Young Explorers 'Sticky Paper Art'

Sign Age ends up with a lot of scrap vinyl in a variety of colors from our many ongoing projects. As a result, we donate the scrap vinyl to several schools in the area. Young Explorer Schools is one that receives the scraps. The school kids call it 'Sticky Paper Art'. They create large colorful murals using the vinyl pieces.

Dr. Fil Brooks, Educational Director for Young Explorers, shared a picture of one of the murals the school kids produced. She says that not only can "each child be successful and enjoy creating their own art pieces, they have practice using scissors which enables them to develop their small motor skills. It is always rewarding to watch them spend time peeling the backing and feeling they have accomplished a major achievement. Young Explorers Schools truly appreciate Sign Age for supplying us with the vinyl. 'Sticky Paper Art' is a big exciting and rewarding art experience for us!"

QR Codes - The Latest Marketing Trend

Little white squares filled with black modules are everywhere, from magazine ads and business cards to posters and vehicle graphics. They're called QR codes for "quick response" and they're a marketing trend.

Just scan one with your smartphone (using a QR code-reading app) and you can connect with nearly anything that can be put into digital format and downloaded - information about a business, directions to the nearest store that carries a brand, discount coupons and much more.

If you go online to http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ you can create a code that will take people to your website. Enter your website url, choose large, medium or small and you have an image to download.

Sign Age has the capabilities of producing custom QR codes to promote your business. We can print your code at any size to fit on your vehicle, banner or digital display.

Car Wrap Advertising

It’s a great value for your advertising dollar.  Statistics from the American Trucking Association and the Outdoor Advertising Association of American indicated that car wrap advertising costs less than $1 per thousand impressions (CPM).  Compare that to $2 CPM for static billboards or $22 CPM for a one-day quarter-page newspaper ad, and it’s no wonder that the vehicle wrap industry is growing rapidly.  Based on this information, vehicle wraps appear to provide the lowest cost per impression of any advertising method.

Signage Demand

Positive Indicators and Eight Months of Growth means businesses are expanding and investing.

April 4, 2011 -- INDUSTRY INDICATORS
US corporate profits, an indicator of corporate demand for signage, jumped 26.4 percent in the third quarter of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009.

Total US retail sales, a potential measure of signage demand, increased 8.2 percent in the first two months of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010.

QUARTERLY INDUSTRY UPDATE

Study Touts Benefits of Outdoor Advertising - Every dollar spent on out-of-home advertising translates to an average of $2.80 in product sales, according to a recent study. The report, results of which were released by the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) in March 2011, concluded that out-of-home advertising has a higher return on investment than television and print advertising. Used in conjunction with other advertising media, out-of-home advertisements also increase campaign retention rates. Among the benefits of outdoor advertising cited by the OAAA is the medium's ability to reach consumers closer to the point of sale.

Signs Point to Retail Improvement - US retail sales, a key demand indicator for sign manufacturers, continued to rebound in early 2011. Sales during February rose 1 percent compared to the month prior, marking the eighth consecutive monthly gain. Such sales growth allows retailers to expand their marketing budgets and operations, creating new business for sign makers. Automobile dealers led the improvement seen in February, with sales rising 2.3 percent month-over-month and 23.7 percent compared to the same month in 2010. Overall, February 2011 retail sales increased 8.9 percent year-over-year.

The Positive Side of Life

- Living on earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun every year.
- How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you're on.
- Birthdays are good for you; the more you have, the longer you live.
- Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.
- Ever notice that the people who are late are often much jollier than the people who have to wait for them?
- Most of us go to our grave with our music still inside of us.
- If Wal-Mart is lowering prices every day, how come nothing is free yet?
- You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
- Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
- Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.
- We could learn a lot from crayons: some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they all exist very nicely in the same box.
- A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
Have an awesome day, and know that someone who thinks you're great has thought about you today!...

Sign Age Wrapped It Up!

We were recently given the opportunity to help Jimmy Stewart design and wrap his weather bus.  Jimmy's next venture after retiring from KVOA as their infamous weather reporter, is to use his weather bus as a classroom for thousands of children in Tucson and Southeastern Arizona schools to teach them about weather and how it works.  The bus is an authentic Bluebird school bus which we have completely wrapped with weather signage from top to bottom, front to back.  The bus will seat 39 students and is accessible for special needs students with a variety of monitors and computers to display weather graphics as a supplement to the teaching process.

Over the years, Jimmy has spoken to hundreds of classrooms and thousands of children in schools across Southeastern Arizona about weather and how it works.  Jimmy stated "I have always had a warm feeling upon walking out of those classrooms.  This is the direction I decided to go in my retirement years."

Good luck to Jimmy in his new and exciting venture!
